Our background
François-Jérôme VINCENT began his career as a piano technician, building on a strong background as a trained pianist. He had the opportunity to work in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls: Philharmonie de Paris (France), Salle Gaveau (France), Salle Cortot (France), Auditorium de Lyon (France), Victoria Hall (Switzerland), Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), Michael Fowler Center (New Zealand), and many more. He has worked with some of the greatest musicians, including Grigory Sokolov, Nelson Goerner, Martha Argerich, Alexandra Dovgan, Lucas Debargue, among others, and has assisted musicians during numerous studio recordings.
He has been the piano technician for some prestigious international piano competitions supported by Steinway & Sons, such as the Geneva Competition, or the Horowitz Competition, and has his name on the official Steinway website (see Steinway at the Horowitz Competition and Concert Technician, Backbone of a competition).
After several years of collaboration with the French piano maker Stephen Paulello, François-Jérôme decided to specialize in piano design and improvement. He completed engineering training and learned to use 3D design software. Since then, various manufacturers around the world have called on his services for the partial or complete design of their instruments, the improvement of their manufacturing processes, or collaborations on specific projects. He has developed his own software and methods for piano improvment, as well as unique tools for piano makers, now marketed worldwide.
François-Jérôme also provides training for technicians, notably through presentations for various associations such as the PTG (USA), SVKS (Switzerland), NZPTTG (New Zealand), BDK (Germany), and others.
He is a teacher at the Swiss piano technician school in Arenenberg (Thurgau).
