About the event
François-Jérôme VINCENT explains how to design and balance a grand piano action for a concert instrument.
The attendees will be using both software and hardwares developed by FJV Piano Design to improve a grand piano action.
5 participants will be working on a concert grand piano action:
Yamaha - CF3S - 275 - Hamamatsu, Japan
The class covers the essential knowledge to analyze and improve the grand piano action geometry, and parts weighting.
Explaining the different terms related to action geometry: hammers boring and geometry, center-pin heights and magic lines, backchecks and hammers tail, strike distance, and the different parts available.
Explaining how to quickly set a hammer boring chart, with the right bored lengths and angles of boring
Assess a grand piano action: finding the problems we might face, what we can improve. How to make the right choice.
Using FJV tools for measuring hammers
Explaining the action balancing and touchweight.
Using the Key Measuring Device from Renner USA. How to save time when balancing an action.
Using our new tool for tapering grand piano hammers with or without shanks.
Weighting hammers by tapering them or adding weight
Balancing the keyboard
Attendees will get an awarding certificates for class attendance.

The course will be held in English unless participants are all French speakers - then it will be in French only.
Fee:
The registration fee is CHF 700.00 for 2,5 days.
Payment can be made online by credit card once the registration has been accepted.
